March, the month of Culture
Baudo according to Musumeci, the latest book by Mirabella presented in Acireale
Santino Mirabella recounts the beginnings of Pippo Baudo and Tuccio Musumeci: a passionate dialogue, memories of friendship, and tributes to the famous host in a packed meeting; two events postponed due to bad weather.
“Our beginnings: Pippo Baudo told by Tuccio Musumeci. And vice versa,” the latest book by Santino Mirabella, was presented in the “Pinella Musmeci” hall through a meeting that, along with the author, also featured Tuccio Musumeci. Both were the protagonists of a passionate dialogue included in the “March, the Month of Culture” series, organized by the Municipal Administration, skillfully moderated by Salvo La Rosa, who was very close to the famous host, and introduced by the relevant councilor, Enzo Di Mauro.
The venue was packed for the meeting, which was attended by, among others, the mayor, Roberto Barbagallo, the president of the Municipal Council, Michele Greco, councilors Rosario Raneri and Gracy Urso, municipal councilors Alfio Messina, Paolo Monaco, Teresa Pizzo, and Simona Postiglione, as well as the regional deputy Nicola D’Agostino.
“A seemingly light topic – noted councilor Di Mauro – but which, instead, provides testimony of a solid and ancient friendship between Tuccio Musumeci and Pippo Baudo. Both were united by a single passion that kept them from ever losing sight of each other throughout their lives. Baudo, unfortunately, recently left us, Musumeci is in great shape and having him in Acireale was not easy.”
The famous actor recalled that: “with Pippo we started together and at the Rai audition we were both rejected. Then, however, we managed to establish ourselves.”
The author, judge Mirabella, observed that: “the two figures have never been separated from their chemistry that has always followed and kept them united. I limited myself to being their bard, drawing from their memories and it was a joy to tell their stories.”
The event was enriched by the hosting of Salvo La Rosa, who expressed himself as follows: “I met Baudo in the halls of Antenna Sicilia and since then we became friends and remained so until August 16th, when we lost a great friend, a great teacher, and a great television host.”
Meanwhile, due to the weather alert, two events included in the same program of "March, the Month of Culture" have been postponed. These are the presentation of the books "The Recklessness of Badalà", a work by Vladimir Di Prima, scheduled for today, Sunday the 15th, at the City Hall, and "In Catania with Goliarda Sapienza. How a Writer is Born", by Lorena Spampinato, planned for tomorrow, Monday the 16th, also at the City Hall.
