Ragusa, the Municipality joins the Anci campaign against violence against women
The red-orange flag symbolizing the initiative will be displayed
The headquarters of the Municipality of Ragusa
The Municipality of Ragusa has officially joined the national campaign “Against Violence Against Women – Never a White Flag”, promoted by ANCI – National Association of Italian Municipalities, in collaboration with the Department for Equal Opportunities of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The initiative aims to make visible and continuous the commitment of local administrations in combating gender-based violence, through awareness-raising actions, prevention, and the dissemination of a culture of respect and equality. “The symbol of the campaign is the red-orange flag, a color associated with Goal 5 of the United Nations 2030 Agenda dedicated to gender equality” - says the mayor, Peppe Cassì - which will be displayed in the Council Chamber, as an expression of the responsibility that those in administration have to promote every form of education and respect towards women. With the involvement of schools, associations, and citizens, and the fundamental active collaboration with the Municipal Councils – Women’s Council, Youth Council, and Council for Disabilities – we must all together spread a clear message: against violence against women, there can be no surrender. I therefore invite citizens to participate in the initiatives that will be promoted in the territory in the coming months and to actively support a culture based on respect, dignity, and equality.
