Modica invests in young people: a new office has been inaugurated

The Municipality of Modica presented yesterday at a press conference the InfoGiovani desk and the Local Eurodesk Point, two new services aimed at the younger generations to strengthen youth policies and facilitate access to educational, job, and international mobility opportunities.

The initiative, promoted by the Municipal Administration, marks a significant step for the city and the entire province of Ragusa, which will have a qualified reference for information and guidance.

The InfoGiovani service will be located in the “Salvatore Quasimodo” Municipal Library, a symbolic place of culture chosen to host a space dedicated to listening, consulting, and supporting young people.

The municipal premises of the library will become a stable meeting point where individuals can obtain guidance and support on training paths, job placement, volunteering, international mobility, European programs, and civic participation tools.

Alongside the desk, the opening of the Local Eurodesk Point adds further strategic value: Modica officially joins the Eurodesk European network, which disseminates information on programs and opportunities promoted by the European Union for young people.

Thanks to this membership, it will be easier for the young people in the area to access study opportunities, internships, international exchanges, and European volunteering projects.

“Investing in young people means investing in the future of our city and the entire territory,” said Mayor Maria Monisteri. “We want young people to know that institutions are by their side and that Modica can increasingly become a place where they can build their future.”

There is also satisfaction from the Councillor for Youth Policies, Samuele Cannizzaro, who emphasized the significance of the project: “This service is born with the aim of creating a stable space for information and support for young people. The InfoGiovani desk and the Eurodesk Point are not just a place to receive information, but a tool to promote participation, active citizenship, and international mobility. Joining the Eurodesk network means opening our territory to European opportunities and guiding young people in discovering new experiences for personal and professional growth.”

The project is carried out with the involvement of several municipal offices: the manager Saro Caccamo, with the support of Laura Paternò, while Roberta Guccione is the local contact for Eurodesk.

The initiative responds to the Administration's desire to concretely invest in youth policies, believing that supporting young people means building the social, cultural, and economic future of the community.
