Discovering the Iblean water sources
On Sunday, the initiative open to everyone organized by the Lions Club Ragusa Host
One of the scenarios that will present itself to visitors
On the occasion of World Water Day, the Lions Club Ragusa Host promotes an event that goes beyond a simple excursion: an experience of awareness, contact with the environment, and rediscovery of the water roots of the Iblei territory.
On Sunday, March 15, 2026, the walk “The Water We Will Drink: A Walk to Discover the Iblei Springs” is scheduled, open to everyone, to reflect on the value of water, a precious and at the same time fragile resource, an integral part of the identity of the Iblei.
The event arises from the collaboration of numerous entities committed to the protection of the environment and the promotion of a more responsible water culture: a clear signal of how significant the issue is and how the territory needs moments of discussion and participation.
The day will begin at 8:30 AM with a meeting in the parking lot of the scientific high school “Enrico Fermi”. From there, participants will organize to reach the forest area of Contrada Conservatore, the starting point of a slow, relaxing walk immersed in greenery.
The group will descend into the picturesque Cava Misericordia down to the eponymous spring, a secluded and meaningful place, where a moment of in-depth discussion led by experts from Arpa, Iblea Acque, and Cirs is planned, focusing on water quality and its vulnerability.
The route will continue towards other springs in the valley, crossing natural vistas of great charm, until reaching the abandoned hermitage, where a convivial break is planned.
The sandwiches, offered by the Lions Club Ragusa Host, will be distributed at the meeting point, so they can be comfortably stored in backpacks. The return is expected around 3 PM.
The itinerary, simple and accessible, is suitable for families with children, because knowledge and respect for water resources are passed down from a young age.
The Lions Club Ragusa Host invites the community to participate in a morning of nature, discovery, and sharing: an opportunity to observe with renewed eyes one of the most precious environmental heritages of the Iblei territory.
An invitation to walk together, to remember that water is not just a resource: it is life, history, identity.
