In promotion in Florence, the knowledge of the first and so far only product of its kind with European recognition.
The Modica IGP chocolate
The Consortium for the Protection of Modica Chocolate IGP will be present at Ciokoflò 2026, scheduled to take place in Florence from March 12 to 15, to promote the first – and so far only – chocolate in Europe with Protected Geographical Indication. The young master chocolatier Damiano Agosta will be tasked with illustrating the 18th-century processing technique of Modica Chocolate IGP. A live demonstration of the various production phases is planned: from melting the cocoa mass to adding sugar, from blending the only two ingredients at low temperature with the help of a double boiler to pouring into molds of the original shape; then demolding the bars and a final tasting reserved for attendees. An exclusive experience, capable of captivating chocolate art enthusiasts. The Modica Chocolate IGP is both food, a cultural symbol, and a living testimony of ancient knowledge, passed down from father to son since 1746. Appointment with Damiano Agosta on Saturday March 14 from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM and Sunday March 15 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at PlaCiokoflò, in Piazza Santa Croce in Florence.
At the exhibition stand, Modica IGP chocolate bars will be available for purchase.
