The Adoration in the Mother Church
An intense moment of spirituality inaugurated the weekend of celebrations in honor of Saint Joseph in Giarratana. The Adoration of the Cross, celebrated with solemnity in the Mother Church, attracted numerous faithful, gathered to pay homage to the Patriarch in prayer and silence. A collective gesture that left a deep mark on the liturgical journey of these days, confirming the intertwining of popular devotion and the more intimate dimension of faith.
Tomorrow, Sunday, March 15, the external feast will take place, with a packed schedule of religious and folkloric events. After the morning Eucharistic celebrations, at 12 PM, the effigy of Saint Joseph will exit the Mother Church for the first processional parade through the streets of the historic center, accompanied by the “Vincenzo Bellini” band and greeted by a fireworks display. In the afternoon, following the 7 PM mass, the return procession will begin, concluding with the reception of the statue in the square. Following that, a fireworks show by “Elia Fireworks” is scheduled, along with the final return to the Mother Church.
On Monday, March 16, the celebrations will continue with the 6 PM Eucharistic celebration and the final of the Scala 40 tournament, which will be followed by the awards ceremony in the parish hall: an opportunity to also experience the communal and convivial aspect of the occasion, capable of uniting generations and reinforcing the sense of belonging.
The parish of Maria Ss. Annunziata and San Giuseppe, together with the celebration committee and the priests Don Francesco Ottone and Don Johns Avuppadan, invites the entire community to participate joyfully and devoutly in the scheduled events, to pay homage to the Patriarch in an atmosphere of faith, tradition, and shared celebration.
