The archaeological area of Mezzagnone
On the occasion of the Sicilian Cultural Heritage Day, dedicated to the memory of the archaeologist Sebastiano Tusa, the Archaeological Park of Kamarina and Cava d'Ispica organized a special opening of the archaeological area of Mezzagnone, in the territory of Santa Croce Camerina.
The event took place last Monday with free admission. During the morning, visitors were able to participate in guided tours to discover the site, accompanied by specialists in the field.
Leading the public were archaeologist Saverio Scerra, archaeologist Paola Dantoni, and art historian Maria Antonietta Piazza, who illustrated the historical and archaeological features of the area.
The event represented an opportunity for the enhancement and dissemination of the local cultural heritage, in memory of a central figure for the protection of cultural heritage in Sicily such as Sebastiano Tusa.
