Electricity and gas, Ragusa is among the Sicilian provinces with the highest bills
A situation destined to worsen in light of complicated international scenarios
In 2025, Sicilian households incurred an average of 1,710 euros in expenses for electricity and gas: a level that is only slightly lower than that of the previous year, but significantly higher compared to 2018, when the average expenditure barely exceeded 1,100 euros.
This data emerges from an analysis by Facile.it concerning domestic customers in the free market with indexed rates.
Specifically, the most burdensome item was gas, with an average expenditure of 942 euros, while for electricity, the spending was around 768 euros.
Sicily is the region with the lowest average gas cost, but at the same time, it ranks second for the burden of the electricity bill.
Experts indicate that the current international scenario, exacerbated by the conflict in Iran, could lead to further increases in raw material prices.
The analysis, conducted on over 56,000 users, highlights marked territorial differences.
On the electricity front, the province of Caltanissetta records the highest amounts, with an average expenditure of 870 euros against an annual consumption of 2,934 kWh. Following are Ragusa (867 euros, 2,922 kWh) and Messina (801 euros, 2,649 kWh).
The lightest electricity bills are observed in Enna (637 euros, 1,970 kWh), Agrigento (718 euros, 2,306 kWh), and Siracusa (731 euros, 2,360 kWh).
The ranking changes for gas: Catania leads the list with an average expenditure of 1,220 euros on 852 Smc consumed, followed by Enna (1,103 euros, 762 Smc) and Ragusa (910 euros, 611 Smc).
The lowest expenses are instead found in Siracusa (728 euros, 470 Smc), Palermo (784 euros, 513 Smc), and Agrigento (838 euros, 555 Smc).
The overall picture highlights the still significant pressure of energy costs on Sicilian household budgets and how the combination of consumption levels and prices applied at the provincial level significantly impacts the final expenditure.
