The Municipality of Modica has submitted to the Sicilian Region a definitive project, immediately actionable, for the regeneration of the artisan area, applying for the regional call aimed at the improvement of productive areas.
The total investment amounts to 1.3 million euros, of which about 1 million is allocated for the works.
This was announced by the Councillor for Economic Development, Tino Antoci, who highlights the speed with which the administration has prepared a complete proposal ready for the opening of the construction sites.
“We have worked with great speed and concreteness to seize this opportunity. The artisan area represents a fundamental economic presence for the city and deserves redevelopment interventions capable of improving functionality, safety, and overall quality of the spaces,” says Antoci.
The plan includes a comprehensive set of infrastructure works and urban reorganization: repaving the roadway, repairing the drains and sidewalks, creating new green areas also serving as compensation for CO2 emissions generated by productive activities.
It also includes the complete renewal of signage and place names, with new signage and directional systems to facilitate the identification of the established businesses.
At the entrance of the artisan district, an information board dedicated to the companies will be placed.
The project also includes the energy efficiency of public lighting through relamping interventions and the construction of two photovoltaic canopies equipped with charging stations for electric vehicles, serving the activities and users of the area.
“This is not just maintenance work, but a project that looks to the future of our productive areas, introducing elements of environmental sustainability, energy innovation, and greater urban quality,” concludes Antoci.
Presented in recent days, the intervention is part of the package of initiatives promoted by the municipal administration to strengthen and enhance the economic fabric of the city.
