Catania, the great disappointment of a first place now lost
The words of coach Toscano and the analysis of Lunetta, author of the goal of hope: "We need to improve, let's think about Casertana"
The coach of Catania football Toscano
This is not a happy return to Catania. Quite the opposite. The first place has slipped away definitively. Benevento practically has one foot in Serie B and coach Toscano commented on one hand: “Now they can only lose the championship themselves.” Shortly after, he changed his mind and hissed: “It’s not over yet, we have to fight and give our all until the end because in football, you never know.”
The fact is that the best Catania of the last two away games played in a more than proactive manner, but in the end they collected only one point. Toscano: “I feel sorry for the boys, we could have won in Benevento and if I had gone into halftime with a lead, it would have been a completely different match. But this is the verdict, let’s only think about Casertana whom we will play on Monday evening.”
Gabriel Lunetta analyzed the performance in detail and hinted at what Catania will need to do better in the next eight matches: “We need to transform negative energy into competitiveness and clarity and play eight matches at our best in the end for the playoffs.”
Catania has dropped points along the way against opponents within reach. Now the regret is growing. Lunetta responded: “In other matches, we didn’t play like the last two; then you analyze episodes and matches played on fields not like these last two. True, we didn’t manage to fully engage in those situations and take three points in the tough matches. Frankly, though, talking about matches from three months ago seems pointless to me.”
The performance was there compared to other away games. “We created more but didn’t score, that’s the truth.”
