According to the Israeli agency Ynet, the United Arab Emirates allegedly conducted an attack against a desalination facility located on the Iranian island of Qeshm. If confirmed, this would be the first raid directed against Iran by a Gulf state. Official media in Tehran report that the strike on the facility has caused disruptions in the water supply to about 30 villages on the island. Abu Dhabi denies the accounts from Israeli sources claiming it targeted an Iranian facility. The Emirati Foreign Ministry, cited by Anadolu, stated that in “self-defense” against “Iranian aggression,” the country does not aim for escalation but reserves the “full right” to protect its security. “This is fake news. When we do something, we have the courage to announce it,” wrote on X Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Defense, Interior, and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council (FNC). Meanwhile, the Emirati Ministry of Defense, reported by Sky News, announced that four people have been killed following Iranian attacks against the country. The victims are of Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationality. Since the beginning of hostilities, the Emirates claim to have identified hundreds of missiles and nearly 1,500 drones, the vast majority of which have been intercepted and destroyed.
