In Carrara, a dirty and cynical Palermo: rosanero 3 points behind Monza, Saturday is already a playoff

It wasn't easy at all, but in the end, Palermo brought home the three points. The match at the Stadio dei Marmi in Carrara was decided by the usual Pohjanpalo, who scored his twentieth goal of the season: 0-1 the final score. The game saw Calabro's team start strong, forcing the rosanero into their own half. However, it was the Sicilians who found the net at the first opportunity in the 19th minute. The goal disadvantage did not intimidate the Tuscans, who continued to attack in an orderly fashion in search of the equalizer. Notable was Joronen's save on Finotto at the half-hour mark, but especially the two posts hit by Carrarese ten minutes later: the first by Finotto, the second almost at the end of the first half by Torregrossa.
The same story continued in the second half, with the Tuscans dominating much of the second half, pinning the Sicilians in their own half but failing to capitalize on their chances. The team of Inzaghi did well to endure and neutralize the Tuscans' offensives. The Sicilians also had the chance to make it 2-0 five minutes from the end on a counterattack, wasted by Bani.
With the victory at the Stadio dei Marmi, their second consecutive win, Palermo remains in fourth place but rises to 57 points in the standings, keeping a one-point gap from third-placed Frosinone and narrowing the distance to three points from second-placed Monza. The brianzoli will be the next opponents for the rosanero in a direct clash scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at 3 PM.
