Fear in the square: a flurry of shots at Tondicello della Plaia, shell casings found and police investigations

A flurry of shots. Fortunately in the air. Shooting has resumed in Catania.

The gunfire took place in Caduti del Mare Square, known as Tondicello della Plaia.

The report came in last night at 11 PM from officers of a local police patrol that was conducting a service in the area.

Then the intervention of the officers from the Flying Squad occurred, who found several shell casings on the pavement, totaling nine (most of them 9x21 caliber). An unexploded bullet was also found.

Now the investigations are entrusted to the mobile squad.

From an initial reconstruction, it seems that the gunmen were riding motorcycles.

The Tondicello is historically a drug dealing area: a few years ago it was the center of an anti-drug blitz by the DDA called “Piazza Pulita”.
