drama of jealousy
Discovers a compromising message from the lover to her husband and she kills him with a stab to the heart
The victim is 60 years old, the 54-year-old woman has been arrested for murder by the prosecutors of Salerno. The tragedy in Pagani
The screen of a smartphone lit up on a table with a message from another woman to her husband: this would have been the cause of the murderous rage in a villa on Viale degli Aranci, in Sant'Egidio del Monte Albino.
In those rooms, the murder of Francesco Vitolo, 60 years old, an entrepreneur in the telecommunications sector and a respected judoka from Pagani, took place.
According to the investigators' reconstruction, the tragedy was triggered by a notification that appeared on that cellphone: a message sent by a younger woman, identified as the alleged lover of the victim. This led to a furious argument, ending with a fatal blow to the left hemithorax, between the fourth and fifth ribs.
For the aggravated murder, the wife, Raffaella Cirillo, 54 years old, is being held in Salerno prison.
Initially, the woman alerted the authorities, speaking of a generic "illness", a version that was quickly contradicted by the deep stab wound found on the body. Despite a defense strategy that invokes an emotionally charged context, the preliminary investigations judge has validated the arrest, deeming the initial statements not credible and confirming the existence of serious evidence of guilt.
The investigations are now focusing on technical-scientific assessments. The carabinieri and the RIS are examining various kitchen knives seized to identify the murder weapon. It is hypothesized that the attack occurred in an environment different from the bathroom, where Vitolo would have dragged himself in a desperate attempt to reach water.
Also crucial is the analysis of the alleged lover's phone, seized to extract metadata and chats: accurately reconstructing the timing of that message is considered vital to establish a motive of jealousy.
While awaiting the results of toxicological and histological examinations, which will shed full light on the causes of death, the community of Pagani remains shocked.
