Nordio after Bartolozzi's statements on the judiciary: "He clarified everything." The executive grumbles: "He must rein in his tongue."

Dissent is the salt of democracy, and therefore I hope that, among other things, the tones are always kept low, according to the wise suggestions of the President of the Republic.

"No, she should not resign. The same Dr. Bartolozzi clarified her point of view, which did not refer at all to the entire judiciary, but only to that small minority that she defined as politicized. Surely, as I have already said, I am certain that it will conclude with an expression that may have been misinterpreted, but which, knowing her also as a magistrate, certainly does not represent her thoughts." Thus said Justice Minister Carlo Nordio, at a meeting for the yes to the justice referendum in Turin, responding to journalists about what was stated by his chief of staff, Giusi Bartolozzi.

To the judiciary, to which I still feel I belong, because once a magistrate, always a magistrate, goes all my solidarity, even if we are currently in different positions regarding the referendum, not with all magistrates, but with a part of them," Nordio continues. "Anyway - the minister added - dissent is the salt of democracy and therefore I hope that, among other things, the tones are always kept low, according to the wise suggestions of the President of the Republic. "I entered the judiciary in '75 - Nordio continued - and the first investigation I did was on the Red Brigades. I was the first in sight in the hideouts when they found the names of the magistrates to be killed, because I was following the Venetian column, which had several victims. I held the robe for over forty years, imagine if a magistrate who still feels like a magistrate wants to humiliate the judiciary. Here - the minister emphasized - this is the consideration that has hurt me the most in recent months: it is a reform that will instead free the judiciary from what is the mortgage of factions and from that degeneration that has been."

"If I, like my chief of staff, sometimes exceed in tone, there is the mitigating factor of serious provocation," the minister continues.

"The other day, after the wisdom of President Mattarella, who urged us to keep low tones, something we are trying to do - the minister continued - the response was that yesterday they even called us bandits. They said we are mafiosi, camorristi, that we overwhelm the Constitution, now they call us bandits. I think you need to have nerves not just steady, but almost iron, to be able to endure this avalanche of insolence without reacting."

From Giusi Bartolozzi, at the moment, there are no public apologies coming, and "it will be managed internally" her case that arose after the words with which the chief of staff of the Minister of Justice referred to the judiciary as "execution squads". This is what has been learned from multiple government sources.

A statement that was not at all appreciated by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who is strongly displeased. Bartolozzi " must keep her tongue in check ", one of the considerations being made within the executive in these hours, while the controversy continues to be at the center of the debate in view of the referendum on justice.
