Dissequestro dell'area Cutulisciò a Le Ciminiere: via libera ai lavori e alla progettazione del padiglione C1

The Prosecutor's Office of Catania has ordered the release of the area known as "Cutulisciò" of the Le Ciminiere center, which was destroyed by a fire that broke out on the 11th of last month, 2025.

"With this provision, we can now intervene promptly on the area affected by the fire - declared Metropolitan Mayor Enrico Trantino - the activities for the dismantling of the scaffolding damaged by the fire have already begun and will allow for the necessary technical checks. The operations will be conducted with the utmost speed to allow for the restoration of normal railway circulation. We will continue to closely monitor the progress of the activities so that Le Ciminiere can soon become a fundamental place for hosting large conferences and a symbol of the cultural and congress activity of the city".

The lawyer Ivan Albo, it is stated in a note from the Entity, has followed for the Metropolitan City and worked in synergy with the prosecutors on the technical and investigative verification operations, helping to accelerate the timeline that led to the release order. The release will now allow the technicians of the Metropolitan City to access the premises that have been off-limits until now to first intervene on the external construction scaffolding of the structure that was damaged during the fire.

"In these months, despite the blaze, the commitment of the administration to the design and development of the entire conference complex has not stopped - Trantino adds - in fact, the administrative process for the redevelopment of the area continues with the tender for the assignment of the executive design that was closed on February 24th.

The deadline for submitting bids related to the "open procedure for the awarding of architecture and engineering services aimed at drafting the technical-economic feasibility project and the executive project for the reconstruction of Pavilion C1 of the Le Ciminiere complex in Catania" expired on February 25, with a total amount of 1.7 million euros. The tender procedure is currently in an advanced stage of execution, with the evaluation activities of the bids currently underway.
