"Black and Acid Rain" in Tehran, CNN Correspondent Reveals the "Mystery"
It occurred after the attacks on oil depots and the Shahran refinery. Citizens are urged to stay home
“The nearly 10 million residents of Tehran woke up to a morning covered by thick black clouds,” after Israeli attacks hit Iranian oil storage sites: this is reported from Tehran by CNN correspondent Fred Pleitgen.
“You can see that the rain, the rainwater is actually black - also saturated, apparently, with oil,” he reported in his coverage.
“This is what is happening this morning, this kind of oil-filled rain that we have right now over the Iranian capital, after the attacks,” which specifically targeted the Shahran refinery in Tehran, which some videos showed enveloped in smoke and flames.
“I saw the explosion last night, it lit up the sky, something I had never seen before: it looked like the end of the world, or the beginning of what reminds me of hell,” a local resident recounted.

The Iranian Red Crescent has warned the citizens of Tehran about the risk of toxic compounds being released into the atmosphere, following the explosion of oil depots during the U.S.-Israel attacks on Tehran, stating that dangerous acid rains could occur, which have already begun to fall on the capital. The Civil Protection has urged the population to stay indoors.
A huge cloud of smoke spread across the Tehran sky this morning, darkening the sky, followed by some dark-colored rain on the capital.
