Attack on the Al Salem base: Crosetto reassures, aircraft lost but the soldiers are safe

The Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, assured that «the loss of the aircraft has no impact on the safety of our military deployed in the area», following the attack that affected the base of Al Salem, in Kuwait.

«In Kuwait, at the Al Salem base, a shelter was hit where an unmanned reconnaissance aircraft of the Italian air task force was housed», he specified.

Crosetto also emphasized: «Together with the Prime Minister and the entire government, I am closely monitoring the evolution of the security situation in the area, in constant contact with the Chief of Defense Staff, the Joint Operational Command, and directly with the commanders on the ground».

The Defense Minister added that «The Italian Defense is making every effort to promote a de-escalation of the current situation».

«All Italian military personnel present at the base were safe and were not involved in the attack. I immediately informed the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Ministers, and all leaders of political parties, both in the majority and in opposition, in order to ensure maximum transparency and sharing of the situation», he concluded.
