Manager-journalist arrested for child pornography: here’s why the name cannot be disclosed
Former deputy director of a news program turned head of communications arrested with his partner: photos and videos deemed child pornography seized, investigations into alleged abuse and involvement of minors in a family context.
The name cannot be disclosed because the grandchildren are involved. Therefore, the victims would be identified. The manager-journalist arrested for child pornography was an unsuspected individual. From the deputy management of a national news program, he made the leap to become the head of communication for an important state-owned energy company. He now works for a private company. The52-year-old was arrested in recent days by the carabinieri simultaneously with his new partner, a48-year-old teacher, who is currently in prison in Treviso for the same offenses. The Rome prosecutor's office suspects that the journalist may be part of a larger pedophilia ring.
In the man's cell phone, investigators found photographs and videos of minors that, according to investigators, would constitute child pornography. Among the seized files were also images of the 16-year-old daughter of his partner and those of the two grandchildren of the woman, aged 5 and 8, children of the brother, completely unaware of the facts. He, along with his partner, did not make any statements when the carabinieri knocked on the door, following the report made by the father of the 16-year-old, the woman's ex-partner. The man had turned to the authorities after the girl informed him that she had discovered, in the journalist's home in Treviso, some of her photos while she was in the shower, in the bathtub, or asleep, stored on the mother's computer.
The guarantee interrogation will take place next week. The man and the woman are accused of various charges of sexual violence against minors, child pornography, and possession and access to child pornography. The two have been transferred to prison following a preventive custody order signed by the investigating judge of the Capital. The journalist was stopped at the Termini station immediately after the arrival of the train from Bologna, while the high school teacher is in Treviso, the city where she resides. The investigations began from the report made by the professor's ex-partner, filed after the daughter had reported discovering on the mother's computer an exchange of child pornography materials with a man, later identified as the reporter.
The minor, later heard in a protected hearing, reportedly saw in Treviso, at her mother's home, a chat between the two suspects containing images and messages with sexual content regarding minors, including herself and two cousins aged 5 and 8. These elements were corroborated by witness testimonies and computer material seized during the searches conducted between Treviso and Rome at the homes of the suspects, including phones, computers, and tablets. According to the investigators from the Carabinieri, a “very large amount of data relating to photos and videos with sexually explicit content” was found. In the conversations between the two, “pedopornographic content was detected focused on comments exchanged between the two, referring to photos depicting minors in the intimate areas of the body”, along with other passages “that suggest the niece of the investigated woman was forced to endure sexual attention from her aunt” such as “repeated touching in the genital areas simultaneously recorded on video and then commented on with the suspect”. Finally, in the phone used by the journalist, “numerous images with pedopornographic content” of under 18 “in sexually explicit poses” were found. Investigations continue; the suspects remain at the disposal of the judicial authority, in accordance with the principle of presumption of innocence.
