The joint controls in the historic centers
In February, the Ragusa Police Headquarters, in synergy with the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza and under the coordination of the prefect, has complemented the usual territorial monitoring activities with a series of extraordinary operations aimed at combating drug trafficking and illegal immigration.
With the support of technicians from Enel and the Municipal Police Command of Ragusa, groups of buildings in historic centers were inspected to verify their correct use, the actual presence of entitled individuals, as well as the regularity of lease contracts and related utilities.
The operation, which involved a total of 170 operators, produced the following results: 49 checkpoints, 1,180 people identified, 612 vehicles checked, 35 violations of the Highway Code, 21 foreign citizens expelled (of which 8 accompanied to the Centers for repatriation) and 15 public establishments subjected to verification.
The inspections in public places were also supported by the Firefighters, the Labor Inspectorate, and the Asp of Ragusa, to ascertain compliance with technical requirements and necessary authorizations.
Similar services will also be organized in the month of March.
