A road rage incident escalates into a chase through the streets of Adrano: a 37-year-old man reported.
The footage incriminates the man; the trick of the seat belts has been uncovered.
Over the weekend, the State Police reported a 37-year-old man who, after a trivial altercation while driving, allegedly chased a car through the streets of downtown Adrano with a family inside: the driver, his wife, their daughter, and the in-laws.
According to the victims' account to the agents of the Public Security Commissariat of Adrano, the incident arose when their car, traveling down a city street, nearly collided with a suv that was moving at high speed in the opposite direction.
In response to the legitimate request to slow down, the driver of the suv reacted unexpectedly and violently: putting the car in reverse, he allegedly squeezed the family’s vehicle until he dented its side.
Not satisfied, he would have gotten out, shouting at the driver of the struck car who, worried for the safety of his loved ones, tried to drive away.
At that point, the situation escalated: the man behind the wheel of the suv began a high-speed chase through various streets of the town.
Upon reaching the outskirts of Adrano, he would have deliberately hit the vehicle for the second time, attempting maneuvers to force the other driver to stop.
Only after several kilometers of tension did the family manage to shake off the aggressor and reach the Commissariat.
Through the cross-analysis of images from the municipal surveillance cameras, the police quickly identified the owner of the suv.
Tracked down at his home, the man tried to justify his behavior by claiming he reacted to a sudden maneuver by the other driver, which caused the minor daughter, sitting in the front seat of the suv, to hit her head.
During the investigation, however, the agents noticed that the seat belts in the vehicle were inserted into their designated slots, a "trick" used to avoid wearing them and silence the acoustic sensors. A recklessness that, if not adopted, would likely have prevented the minor from suffering the impact, regardless of the dynamics of the incident.
In light of the facts and the damage observed on the vehicles, the 37-year-old has been referred to the judicial authority for arbitrary exercise of one's rights with violence against property, while maintaining the presumption of innocence of the accused until a final judgment.
