Mondello, here are the areas for the concessions: bids are open

With a decree signed by the regional councilor for Territory and Environment in Sicily, Giusi Savarino, the thirteen maritime state-owned areas of Mondello beach, in Palermo, have been identified for assignment for tourist-recreational and sports purposes during the 2026 bathing season.

A subsequent public notice from the Department of Environment has announced the procedure for assignment through short-term authorizations. The decree and the plan are available on the official portal of the Sicilian Region.

The provision signed by the councilor states that the administration "reserves the right to revoke this decree and any subsequent awards in the event that, following the appeal to the TAR with suspension, presented by the company Mondello Immobiliare Italo Belga Sa., a provisional suspension order of the decree of forfeiture or an unfavorable ruling against the granting regional administration occurs."

And in this case, "the applicants or any awarded parties will not be able to make claims for damages for alleged violations of legitimate interests or subjective rights against the regional administration."

After the identification of the 13 maritime state-owned areas of Mondello beach, in Palermo, the public notice from the regional council for Territory and Environment for their assignment has also been published.

These are lots of one thousand square meters each, which must be used for tourist, recreational, and sports purposes.

The authorizations will be of short duration, for a maximum period of 90 days between June and October, exclusively for the 2026 bathing season.

Individual businesses, companies, cooperatives, and consortia, as well as sports associations and third sector entities, can participate in the public notice.

Applications must be submitted exclusively online through the Maritime State Property Portal of the Sicilian Region.

The deadlines will expire on April 30 for requests for the period June-August and on May 31 for the interval between September and November.

Among the obligations for the assignee are the cleanliness, decorum, and safety of the area; not to use turnstiles or other devices that limit access to the beach; the prohibition of installing series of cabins on the beach.
