In Sicily, the "reshuffle" is a word that starts with a "d." The "d" of women and executives. The variables that will enter, directly or indirectly, into the government reshuffle that will redraw the geography of power on the island.

There is a scenario that many are now confirming in the political halls: those who today ask for two assessors, namely the Dc aiming for the "restoration of the conditions prior to the judicial cyclone" and the Mpa demanding "the respect of a pact established during the European elections," will probably have to settle for just one seat in the council. The autonomists will confirm Francesco Colianni for Energy, while the Christian Democrats might propose Ignazio Abbate (the most quoted name, but not certain) for Family.

So, who will get the "extra" assessor? Everything points to Forza Italia and also to one name: that of Bernadette Grasso, considered by many to be already a step away from the executive. Women are needed in the council, especially if the latest judicial news from the corruption trial against the Tourism head Elvira Amata should advise the Messina deputy to take a "step aside." Not by chance, the name of Fdi Senator Ella Bucalo is still fresh.

Following the pressing from allies (especially from Melonians and Lombardians), the Health assessor Daniela Faraoni should be packing her bags. Nothing personal against the former manager of the Asp of Palermo, but that assessor's position interests too many. In the end, it could end up going to Fratelli d'Italia, which would propose the group leader Giorgio Assenza for the council, who enjoys widespread respect within the majority.

If these are the names in play - and others, in fact, are in the background, ready to step onto the reshuffle stage if the opportunity arises - the intertwining regarding the delegations is more complicated. The Messina Grasso could therefore go to Local Authorities, an assessorate that the Dc Abbate aspires to, and for which the name of the Forza Italia member Nicola D'Agostino has also been mentioned. But it is not excluded that Grasso could be the substitute for Amata at Tourism. Well-informed sources whisper that the Cultural Heritage could also come into play.

The technician Alessandro Dagnino should be saved from the reshuffle, also strong from the good economic results achieved by the government and from a still very delicate moment in the process of settling the Region's accounts. A path that intertwines with the reshuffle issue, somehow suggesting a sort of deadline. The budget regulations, in fact, set a date every year, peremptorily: it is April 30, by which entities must approve the financial statement.

What would the failure to meet the deadline mean? Simply put, the Region from May 1 would not be able to formalize any hiring, including service contracts. Among these hires are also those in cabinet offices, which often represent compensation chambers for parties and "outlets" to ease internal tensions. It is in everyone's interest, in short, to close the reshuffle deal by that date.

Meanwhile, something is moving on the bureaucratic front: just two days ago, the green light was given to search for a replacement for Salvatore Iacolino in Strategic Planning, while this morning, in the council, the government will choose the new general director for Tourism: the names circulating are those of Filippo Nasca, current general director of the Pension Fund, close to Fdi, and Margherita Rizza, current commissioner of the Foss, favored by the president of the Region Renato Schifani.

The choice of the bureaucrat will also be an indication. If it is from the Melonians, it is reasonable to expect a Forza Italia assessor to replace Amata. The situation would be reversed in the case of Rizza's appointment. Because the word reshuffle, in Sicily, can also start with the "d" of executives.
