During a session also dedicated to the new regulation on the facilitated definition of revenues, the Council of the Free Municipal Consortium of Ragusa unanimously approved the amendments presented by the group “Pd – L’Alternativa”, composed of councilors Gaetano Scollo, Giovanni Garretto, and Salvatore Schembari.

The changes aim to make the regulation closer to citizens, easier to apply, and attentive to the economic difficulties that many families and businesses are facing.

While respecting the national regulatory framework, the intervention aims to broaden taxpayer participation and strengthen the Entity's ability to recover resources, a particularly significant goal for a Free Consortium that administers a limited number of taxes and for which every choice directly impacts the community.

We have tried to improve an already well-constructed regulation, but one that could be made even more useful for those who want to comply without being overwhelmed by overly rigid procedures,” explain Scollo, Garretto, and Schembari.

“The approved changes make the definition fairer and more accessible, without creating new costs for the Entity.”

Among the most relevant innovations is the possibility to define individual burdens by type of tax, avoiding the obligation to settle everything in a single payment, and a more proportionate expiration regime, which does not penalize those who incur an occasional delay.

The group “Pd – L’Alternativa” also expressed gratitude to the president, the council groups, and the individual councilors for the unanimous vote, as well as to the offices and the Board of Auditors for their timely and professional work.

This is a concrete result – they conclude – that improves the relationship between citizens and the Entity and makes the recovery of revenues more effective. A serious policy must know how to listen, correct, and improve constructively.”
