Vittoria, Councilor Nicastro: "We in the council always put our face out there"
The speech following the latest political events and the opposition's criticisms

«Putting our face out there means being present always: when things go well and when things can also go wrong. This is the essence of our daily commitment». With these words, City Councilor Giuseppe Nicastro intervenes to take stock of the administrative situation in the city of Vittoria, claiming the work done and asking citizens to continue to participate and engage with the administration.
Nicastro emphasizes that governing Vittoria is not easy: «If this had been an easy city, we probably would not have run for office. And I can guarantee, after four years of administration, that Vittoria is a complex city that requires constant presence, difficult decisions, and a capacity for resilience that not everyone would have. Others, in our place, would have lasted six months». The councilor also addresses the issue of urban criticalities, starting with the roads: «Citizens see the ditches and they are right to report them. But let us remember that in four years we have endured three cyclones that have devastated the territory. We are repairing, we are intervening and we ask for a little patience. The mayor is operational every day, providing precise guidelines to increase the safety of pedestrians, motorcyclists, and drivers. We do not stop».
Nicastro also explains the purpose of the itinerant meetings in the neighborhoods: «Being present in the territory is not just about listening: it is a way to verify problems, understand how to solve them, and correct the course when necessary. An administration that moves, that meets citizens, that engages openly, is an administration that is not afraid. In the Democratic Party, we have councilors, assessors, and a mayor who work together. The itinerant council is an opportunity for real dialogue, not a showcase». The councilor then recalls the national and regional context, which weighs on municipal budgets: «Today, municipalities are left alone. No transfers are coming from the national government, no transfers are coming from the regional government. Municipalities are without urban police, without staff, without resources for asphalt, with social services in distress, and a healthcare system that has been literally dismantled. And while all this is happening, billions are being invested in grandiose projects like the Bridge over the Strait, while the territories are being abandoned».
Nicastro rejects the criticisms of the opposition: «The opposition talks, but does not propose. And above all, they govern at the national and regional level: the results are clear for everyone to see. We, on the other hand, continue to work with a thousand difficulties, without compromising, without abandoning the citizens. Because there are no alternatives: the only way is to continue, improve, listen, and correct when necessary». The councilor concludes with a clear commitment: «We are here. We put our faces on the line, always. We will continue to do so, because Vittoria deserves an administration that does not shy away from problems, but faces them together with the citizens».
