In Pozzallo, the political clash over the issue of land protection shows no signs of easing, becoming a direct battleground between the municipal executive and the local chapter of Brothers of Italy. At the center of the debate are the completion of the interventions in the Raganzino basin and the long-term strategy for the city.

From the Town Hall, they announce the imminent restart of the construction sites at Raganzino. The discussions with the winning contractor are reportedly in the final stages, unlocking a project deemed crucial for hydrogeological safety and coastal protection.

The majority also issues a tough challenge to the representatives of Giorgia Meloni's party. City councilor Enzo Giannone criticizes the governing ability of the local right, dismissing the criticisms as mere “demagoguery”.

We are still waiting for the Brothers of Italy in Pozzallo to indicate which mayors from their party are carrying out projects to protect the territory comparable to those underway here,” Giannone presses. Few municipalities in Italy are securing their cities with such foresight.

The accusation is clear: while the opposition would be looking for momentary consensus, the current city government claims the responsibility to plan for the future, with investments that, according to them, far exceed the scope of any alternative administrations. “They would hardly be able to achieve a twentieth of what is being done today.”

Although elections are not imminent, the atmosphere of election campaigning continues to permeate the discussion. The Administration warns FdI, accusing the party of underestimating the intelligence of the people of Pozzallo and of not having internalized the message from the last electoral round. “Those who work are rewarded; those who criticize are punished. Citizens have eyes to see; the completed works cannot be hidden.”

In circles close to the administration, there is a prevailing belief that technical dialogue with businesses and concrete results on the ground are the most effective responses to what they define as a “sterile criticism”.

In this light, the resumption of work at Raganzino represents not just an operational step, but is configured as a political manifesto of a Pozzallo projected into the coming decades.
