Fuorionda di La Russa, Nicita: «Non servono scuse personali, ma rispetto per l'istituzione e per ogni senatore»

«I read that President La Russa says he called me but I had to hang up the phone because I received calls from all over the country and the first message is from my son who sent me the video. This evening I will have to explain to him that in this institution I received an epithet that is an understatement to say offensive. But the issue is not personal apologies but how we are represented, in a certain language, by the representatives of the institutions who are, and we are, at every moment both with microphones on and off and by those who sit in that chair to represent all of us».

Senator of the Democratic Party, Antonio Nicita said this in a closing speech responding to the words of Senate President Ignazio La Russa in an off-the-record comment directed at him.

Nicita called for a greater «sense of respect» because - he continued - «we are not just interpreting the parliamentary mandate, we must be the example of this institution», reiterating that the issue «is not about personal apologies but about apologies to each senator who is here and to those who are watching us».

The senator then reiterated the same concepts in the Chamber, with the rotating president Maria Domenica Castellone (M5S).
