Public works in Vittoria, Councillor Nicastro responds to Councillor Scuderi
Incomprehensible attacks considering that we are talking about building structures whose approval was also voted for by him.
Councilor Giuseppe Nicastro
The Councilor for Public Works of the Municipality of Vittoria, Giuseppe Nicastro, responds to the statements made by the city councilor Peppe Scuderi, who criticized the construction project in the parking area of the Fiera Emaia.
«It is necessary to clarify some points – Nicastro states – because Councilor Scuderi continues to refer to the facility as a “gym” or even as a foreign body in the urban context. These are unfounded claims. The work in question is not a gym, but a true sports center, designed to host activities such as basketball, five-a-side football, and volleyball. It is a modern, multifunctional structure that is perfectly consistent with the sporting needs of the city.»
The member of the Council also reminds that the intervention was authorized by the entire City Council: «Councilor Scuderi is contesting today a project that he himself voted for, along with the entire Council, through Article 14 of the Consolidated Building Act, which allows for building permits in derogation. It is peculiar to criticize what one has contributed to authorize.»
Nicastro also addresses the controversies raised by Brothers of Italy regarding the works for the nursery and kindergarten in the area in front of the Flower Market: «These are public works designed to improve the lives of families and to make city traffic smoother. Placing these structures in a peripheral and well-connected area means facilitating the daily movements of parents and reducing congestion in the urban center. We have worked with a clear vision: to support families, especially those with more children, who often have to deal with costs and organizational difficulties».
The conclusion is entrusted to a clear political judgment: «The Aiello administration is carrying out concrete, useful works that the city has been waiting for. The previous administration, led by Mayor Moscato, left no positive mark. The only result we remember is the dissolution of the Municipality. Today, however, Vittoria sees construction sites, investments, and services finally taking shape».
