First medal for Italy at the Winter Paralympics in Milan-Cortina: Chiara Mazzel wins silver in the downhill for visually impaired class AS2, accompanied by guide Nicola Cotti Cottini, on the Tofane di Cortina d'Ampezzo slope.
The Italian finishes 48 hundredths behind Austrian Veronika Aigner (AS3), accompanied by Lilly Sammer, who takes the win with a time of 1'22"55.
Third place on the podium goes to Slovakian Alexandra Rexova (AS2), with Sophia Polak by her side.
Fifth is another Italian, Martina Vozza, assisted by Ylenia Sabidussi.
For Mazzel, an athlete of the Fiamme Gialle, this is her first Paralympic medal of her career; her achievements include three golds and two silvers at the World Championships.
