At 26 years old, the Swede has now updated the record he has held since 2020, when he dethroned the Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie with 6.17. The previous reference was from September, when he won the world title in Tokyo. For the first time, the Scandinavian star improved the record at his home meeting, the Mondo Classic.
“This is my home. This is our home. It is like this. And you know that every time I am on the runway, I represent you. And I do it with great pride”, he said to the audience immediately after the feat. In the competition, Norwegian Sondre Guttormsen (6.00 m) was the only other athlete able to clear six meters.
