Tomorrow the 2nd Pian del Lago Trophy with about 500 athletes participating of all ages.

Everything is ready for the 2nd Trofeo Pian del Lago, an athletics event scheduled for tomorrow morning at the "Marco Tomaselli" stadium in Pian del Lago. This year, the event will have an even broader significance: it will be valid for the first time at the regional level and as the 2nd leg of the interprovincial Grand Prix Caltanissetta–Enna, included in the circuit of the Italian Athletics Federation. The event is expected to attract significant numbers with just under 500 participants (including about a hundred young talents) ready to compete in various categories.
The gathering is set for 8:30 AM with a meeting between the jury and competitors and the collection of race numbers at the sports facility in Caltanissetta. The races will start at 9:30 AM and will involve ten categories. It will begin with the Esordienti 5 years (boys and girls) running 300 meters, followed by the Esordienti 8 years on 400 meters and the Esordienti 10 years on 600 meters. Next will be the races for Ragazzi and Ragazze over a distance of 1 kilometer, followed by Cadetti and Cadette over 2 kilometers. The Allievi and Allieve will compete over 2,430 meters, while the longest race will involve the categories of Juniores, Promesse, Seniores, and Master (both male and female) over a distance of 7,290 meters.

The organization is managed by ASD Marathon Caltanissetta, affiliated with the Italian Athletics Federation, led by president Giuseppe Zagarella. The course will be completely flat, developed around the Tomaselli stadium, with the start, finish, and passage at the end of each lap on the athletics track. The races reserved for the Esordienti will take place entirely within the track. “It will be a super event – says Zagarella – and a great day for Caltanissetta. We will have five hundred people competing, including a hundred young talents, all engaged in the queen of sports, athletics. This is the second Trofeo Pian del Lago, following last year's event, and it will bring Caltanissetta and Pian del Lago into the regional spotlight. It will be a day of sports, community, sharing, and lots of fun.”
