Ragusa fails to go beyond a 0-0 draw with Vibonese, a missed opportunity.
The race for salvation continues to remain in the balance.
On a day that could have marked a decisive turning point in the relegation battle, Ragusa could only manage a 0-0 draw that feels like a defeat. At the "Campo," a victory was needed to gain momentum, confidence, and points in a standings that continues to remain dangerous. Opposing them was a Vibonese side coming off five consecutive losses, an ideal opponent – at least on paper – to try to change their fortunes. Instead, the blues failed to seize the opportunity.
The match tells the story of a Ragusa team that was inconsistent, capable of coming to life only at times and often struggling in the critical areas of the field, where the Calabrians repeatedly gained the upper hand. In the first half, the Ibleans had two glaring chances to break the deadlock, both wasted just steps from the goal. Heavy mistakes that ultimately affected the outcome of the match.
In the second half, the home team increased the pressure, creating a series of dangerous situations: a post, a crossbar, furious scrambles in the area, and at least two decisive interventions from the visiting goalkeeper denied the goal that could have changed the course of the game. The Vibonese, for their part, did not show any superior quality compared to other low-ranked teams faced so far, but they managed to defend with order and exploit Ragusa's uncertainties.
There was a lack of ruthlessness in front of goal, a lack of precision, and at times even a lack of effectiveness in building simple and effective play. Too many frills, too few clean choices. And when football decides to turn its back on you, it does so without half measures: just days ago, a goal in the 95th minute against Milazzo had brought an unexpected smile, but today posts and crossbars wrote an opposite script.
To make the afternoon even more bitter, the results from other fields: almost all favorable, except for the shocking victory of Favara against Lamezia, a result that further complicates the relegation battle and inevitably fuels more than one suspicion among the fans.
The path is not compromised, but from now on there will be no margin for error. The next challenge against Lamezia becomes a watershed: winning by any means will be necessary, regaining clarity, determination, and that hunger that today seemed to fade in the decisive moments.
Exiting the stadium brings bitter feelings and regrets. Ragusa still has its destiny in its own hands, but from now on mistakes are not allowed.
