Session marked by unity for the Provincial Council of the Free Municipal Consortium of Ragusa, which this afternoon unanimously approved all items on the agenda.

Among the measures approved, the budget variation for the adjustment of staff remuneration to the contractual renewals provided for by current regulations: this measure allows to settle past dues for the years 2024 and 2025 and to ensure financial coverage also for 2026.

Furthermore, approval was given to the amendment of the Regulation on the organization and discipline of the internal control system.

This is a proposal for a comprehensive rewriting of the regulation – explained the general secretary of the provincial entity, Vito Antonio Bonanno – aimed, on one hand, at overcoming some observations and critical issues raised by the Court of Auditors with resolutions from 2024 and 2025 in the context of checks on the functioning of the system. On the other hand, the revision allows to internalize the entire function of controls, particularly that related to strategic control. In this way, it will be possible to reduce costs for external assignments and enhance the personnel of the entity, including those recently hired, who will contribute to building an internal control system capable of monitoring public value objectives and the strategic ones of the DUP, allowing politics to report to citizens the impacts of public policies.”

Unanimously approved was also the regulatory discipline for the facilitated definition of revenues of the Free Consortium, pursuant to Article 1, paragraphs 102-110, of Law No. 199 of 2025.

The text was supplemented with three amendments, presented by councilor Gaetano Scollo and accepted by the Assembly.

I would like to thank the entire Provincial Council for the work done and for the sense of responsibility shown. The decisions made unanimously represent an important signal of institutional collaboration and attention to the interests of the provincial community,” declared President Maria Rita Schembari.
