The path towards a healthcare system closer to the citizen marks a new, important milestone in Nicosia. Following the inauguration on January 16 — attended by the Regional Health Councillor Daniela Faraoni and the leaders of the ASP of Enna — the Community House in Piazza Francesco di Paola is now fully engaged in its operational mission. Starting Monday, March 2, the facility has officially activated a new blood collection center, a fundamental service to simplify access to care for residents.

The service will be available three days a week — Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 8:00 AM to 10:30 AM — and will complement the Medical Guard, which has already been relocated to the new premises. The real innovation lies in the access methods: citizens will be able to use the services not only through the traditional appointment system but also in a direct manner, thus ensuring maximum flexibility. For non-exempt patients, the ticket payment can be made at any authorized facility in the area.

The activation of this office does not weaken the existing offer but rather doubles it. The blood collection center at the Basilotta Hospital will continue to operate as usual. This enhancement aims at a specific goal, dear to the Strategic Management led by Mario Zappia: to decongest hospital facilities by providing concrete responses to non-urgent needs in less crowded territorial contexts.

The Community House thus consolidates itself as the intermediate "node" between outpatient clinics and the hospital, transforming the concept of proximity healthcare from a regulatory project into a daily reality. Service by service, Nicosia is building an integrated care model that places the well-being of the community at its center, reducing waiting times and distances.
