Skip the 'grand coalition': Peppe Biondo officially announces his candidacy for mayor of Giardini Naxos

Skip the attempt of the "grand coalition" promoted by entrepreneur and former administrator, Seby Cavallaro.

The former mayor of Castelmola, still residing in Giardini Naxos, Peppe Biondo, launched his campaign as mayoral candidate yesterday morning at the "Montessori" nursery.

Biondo's administrative model for the small hilltop town, on standby for about twenty years, is likely aiming for the conquest of Palazzo dei Naxioti.

This decision comes after, at the technical table of Cavallaro, to whom Biondo expressed his gratitude, other groups and an additional candidacy proposal, that of Giovanni Leonardi, emerged in light of possible primaries, as the former mayor himself claims, a name that circulates during every local administrative election in the towns that are part of the tourist district.

In short, everything is likely heading towards more solid and less confusing proposals.

"After weeks of intense discussion at the political table with various civic forces and organized groups - said Biondo, a well-known doctor who works in the pediatrics department of the "San Vincenzo" hospital - initiated with the aim of identifying a broad consensus on the name of the mayoral candidate and on the programmatic priorities for the future of the city of Giardini Naxos, and noting that, after numerous meetings, five in total, no unitary and shared decision has been reached, I have made an important decision. In recent months, the demand for a new ruling class, capable of governing with competence, transparency, and a spirit of service, has emerged strongly. Encouraged and supported by many citizens, supporters, and sympathizers who have encouraged me to take on this responsibility, I am therefore running for the local elections at the end of next May. My candidacy arises as an alternative proposal to the political-administrative model that has characterized these years, marking a clear discontinuity with the past and proposing a moderate and respectful political offer, starting from the bottom, from the real will of the citizens."
