No to the use of Italian military bases. At the inauguration of the judicial year of the Court of Auditors, the president of the Campania Region, Roberto Fico, expressed a strong opposition to the use of installations on national territory in any operations against Tehran:

«I am against the use of the bases, I am extremely convinced that the attack on Iran, despite our opposition to the ayatollah regime, is an illegal attack outside international law». He then added: «We are very worried about the board of peace that Trump is launching, which seems more like a business committee that bypasses the UN and we want the UN to be strengthened and the voice of the European Union to be strengthened as well».

And he emphasized: «Today we are in a serious and dark period because bypassing every day, for some time now, as seen with Israel and Palestine, the international law does not make the world safe».

Regarding the hypothesis of using Italian facilities, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani also intervened: «The military bases on Italian territory? No one has asked us anything, not even for logistical use. I told Rubio this as well. They must inform us. Drones from Sigonella? For the use of the runways, they always inform us, due to the use of airspace. For any other use, we will go through the Parliament, not like D'Alema did: we will make parliamentary passages».
