Historic Center: 1.5 million euros for the renovation of the former Court on Atenea Street

The City of Agrigento has awarded the technical services for an important restoration project that will affect the heart of its historic center. This involves the architectural recovery of the external facades of the premises of the former Courthouse in Piazza Gallo, at the corner with Via Atenea, which today houses, among others, the offices of the Public Works Department, Urban Planning, etc. The genesis of the funding dates back to December 2022, when the regional department of Local Autonomies granted the city a special contribution of 1.5 million euros. The municipal administration, following the direction of the Public Works department, has chosen to allocate these resources to the redevelopment of the former Courthouse in Piazza Gallo, which is in a serious state of disrepair. The planned works aim for a philological restoration of the external facades, ensuring consistency with the Detailed Plan of the Historic Center. Although there are no direct constraints from the Superintendency on the property, the intervention will focus on the preservation of architectural and decorative elements, also including the renewal of supplies and curtains for a value of approximately 128,000 euros. The overall economic framework of 1.5 million euros allocates over 941,000 euros to the pure execution of the works, with a significant portion reserved for safety charges and labor costs. The professional assignment for the design and management of the works has been entrusted to the firm LP2 Studio Architetti Associati, represented by architect Felice La Longa. The studio won the service with a 3% discount, bringing the total amount for technical services to 163,334.19 euros.

This assignment covers the entire process: from the technical and economic feasibility design to the safety coordination during execution.
