The judges of the Tar of Palermo, presided over by Salvatore Veneziano, have annulled several exams and the related degree obtained by a public employee at the Faculty of Economics and Assessments of Public and Territorial Policies of a university.

The man had been involved in an investigation initiated a few years ago, which led to a trial for unauthorized access to the computer system, computer fraud, and ideological falsehood, charges related to the false certification of passing exams never taken and the consequent obtaining of the university diploma.

The exams under scrutiny included macroeconomics and economic policy, microeconomics, statistics I and statistics II.

The criminal proceedings concluded in the Supreme Court due to statute of limitations.

In the meantime, the university had initiated a proceeding before the administrative judges to obtain the annulment of the degree.

Despite there having been several appeals, some of which were accepted in favor of the student, once the statute of limitations was declared in the criminal case, the university requested and obtained the cancellation of the contested subjects and the degree.

“Although the aforementioned criminal proceedings concluded, in the three levels of judgment, — the judges say — with a ruling of no grounds for proceeding due to statute of limitations, the investigations carried out already in the first instance allow us to affirm the responsibility of the appellant in relation to the behaviors attributed. The previous measures of the administration were issued when the criminal proceedings had not yet concluded, which provided only for the suspension of the validation of the exams pending the resolution of the criminal proceedings itself.”
