Fear in San Michele: gas leak during work, Loreto school evacuated
Area immediately cordoned off and children safe in the square
A broken gas pipeline in the San Michele neighborhood triggered the alert in the late morning today.
The "Loreto" school was evacuated around 1 PM, with teachers and children leaving the building in an orderly manner and heading to Gerardo Noceto square.
The intervention was ordered as a precaution after a damage to the gas pipeline was found during fiber optic installation work.
On-site, the Firefighters and the Municipal Police intervened, who closed the road to vehicular traffic for safety reasons.
The evacuation operation took place without issues and the people involved were transferred to a safe location.
The repair work on the damaged pipeline is ongoing.
