A formal passage in the records of the Chamber of Deputies concretely reignites the prospect of restoring a presence of legality in South-Eastern Sicily.

The bill for the re-establishment of the Modica Court has indeed made a decisive advancement, being linked to Chamber Act No. 2457.

"It is also noted that some municipalities have been included within the jurisdiction of specific judicial offices, existing or to be re-established, particularly regarding those of Sciacca, Modica, and Licata."

"The explicit inclusion of Modica in this passage – says lawyer Enzo Galazzo, representative of the Pro Court Committee – is not just a technical detail, but the formal recognition of a need of the territory and the validity of the battle carried on for years to restore judicial offices to the Val di Noto."

The abolition of the Modica Court has long left a void not only symbolic but operational, burdening the functioning of justice and distancing citizens from essential services. The fact that today the name of the city appears in a reorganization strategy that includes the reopening confirms that the voice of the territory has finally reached the Roman halls.

"There is awareness, however, that the goal has not yet been reached. There is still much work to be done: it is necessary to follow the legislative process, maintain high political and technical attention, and ensure that resources and expertise are guaranteed for an efficient reopening."

"However, the signal is unequivocal. The path is outlined and, for the first time in a long time, the direction is the correct one. The Modica Court of Val di Noto is no longer just a memory or a claim, but a bill in progress."
