Vittoria, Vinciguerra: "The administration and the majority ignore the requests of Coldiretti"
"Proximity to the agricultural sector is only words, facts are missing. As always"
The group leader of FdI in Vittoria Alfredo Vinciguerra
New controversy in Vittoria. In a statement, the group leader of Brothers of Italy in the City Council, Alfredo Vinciguerra, attacks Mayor Francesco Aiello, former regional assessor for Agriculture, accusing him of not following up on the requests from Coldiretti on a crucial issue for the primary sector.
“It is truly remarkable how Mayor Aiello – former regional assessor for Agriculture – ignores the requests of such an important trade association as Coldiretti, preferring instead to continue with his usual demagogic and unproductive protests.”
Targeted is the agricultural organization’s request to bring a motion of guidance to the Chamber to urge, in the competent institutional venues at the national and European levels, the revision of the regulations on the customs origin of agricultural and food products as provided by the Union Customs Code.
According to Vinciguerra, the request has remained unanswered.
“The neighboring municipalities, such as Santa Croce, Acate, Ragusa, Scicli, and Modica, have already brought this motion to the council and approved it, aimed at committing the mayor and the Administration to advocate, in the competent national and European institutional venues, for pressure action to modify the regulations on the origin of goods as provided by the Union Customs Code. Today, products that arrive thanks to the final processing in Italy gain the title of made in Italy, misleading the consumer, and our city – which is the pride of Sicilian agriculture as well as national – cannot ignore the appeal from Coldiretti on such an important issue.”
“Yet, as always, the mayor continues with demagoguery, with promises to chain himself everywhere, but when it comes to concretely defending agriculture, he is never there. We consider it serious that Vittoria has remained indifferent to the requests from Coldiretti, and we will take it upon ourselves to propose and bring the motion to the council with our group since this municipal administration remains deaf to such requests.”
