From today there is a ban on the publication, dissemination, and distribution by any means of opinion polls regarding the political and voting orientations of voters, in view of the popular confirmatory referendum on justice issues scheduled for March 22 and 23. The ban, provided for by Article 8 of Law 28/2000, applies to all means of communication and also includes polls conducted before the ban came into effect. This was reported by Corecom Sicilia, which also reminded that, "as established by Article 9 of the same law, during this period public administrations cannot carry out communication activities related to the referendum topics". Only, as explained by Corecom Sicilia, "institutional communications in an impersonal form and strictly necessary for the performance of their functions" are allowed.

"Compliance with the rules on par condicio is essential to ensure correct and impartial information to citizens during the referendum campaign - emphasizes the president of Corecom Sicilia, Andrea Peria Giaconia - our committee is engaged in a constant monitoring activity of the local broadcasting system to ensure compliance with the provisions established by law and by Agcom resolutions".

The Regional Communications Committee has already started monitoring activities to verify compliance with the par condicio rules by local broadcasting stations.

To help local publishing companies in Sicily navigate obligations and deadlines, Corecom has also published online the guide "Par condicio & local broadcasting system", available for free on the official website corecomsicilia.it. (https://www.corecomsicilia.it/pdf/WEB_corecom%20brochure%202026.pdf)
