Great Italy at the European Para Powerlifting Championships in Tbilisi, Georgia. Important podiums have been achieved, confirming the significant international growth of Italian weightlifting even at the Paralympic level. So far, there have been three podiums, two of which are attributed to two Paralympic champions from Sicily: the Palermitan Gabriele Di Cristina and the Etnean Nicolò Agro.

Gabriele Di Cristina, 18 years old, an athlete from Iron Fiit Palermo under master Radicello, dominated the field in the up to 54 kg category, delivering a superlative performance with three valid lifts out of three, the best being at 102 kg, for a total of 301 kg, ultimately finishing with two gold medals in the total (both European and Open) and two silver medals in the best lift (both European and Open).

Before even having time to celebrate this extraordinary achievement of the Palermitan champion, Sicily is still in the spotlight thanks to Nicolò Agro, Paralympic champion from Csd Olimpico di Scordia, with the student of master Salvatore Primo winning the bronze in the 59 kg category. A great international result that rewards the growth and sacrifices of Nicolò Agrò and the significant work in Paralympic weightlifting at Csd Olimpico di Scordia.

The joy of Nicolò Agrò after winning the continental medals

"We are immensely proud of Nicolò - the words of master Salvatore Primo - this medal represents the culmination of an enormous effort, made of sacrifice, discipline, and passion. I want to congratulate not only him but also Federpesistica and the entire technical staff of the National Team for the extraordinary work done. A special thanks goes to coach Sandro Boraschi and coaches Filippo Piegari and Micaela Comini and to federal advisor Claudio Toninel and the federal staff with Matteo Cattini. Their support is essential for the growth of the movement and for allowing athletes to express themselves at their best in international competitions."

Master Salvatore Primo

"An important part of this achievement - emphasizes the staff of Csd Olimpico Scordia - also belongs to the Agrò family, always present alongside the athlete during his sports journey. The constant trust in master Salvatore Primo, combined with the availability and continuous presence in following Nicolò in his growth journey, has played a decisive role in making this European dream possible."
