Among the priorities of the Leontini Administration stands out the so-called "architecture of lights". In the last two years, it has been decided to invest in artistic lighting to enhance the city's architectural heritage and increase the safety of gathering spaces.

After the activation of the new system at the Basilica of the Ss. Annunziata, it was time for the facade, the forecourt, and the bell tower of the Monumental Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, as well as the Bruno Alfieri Palace in Piazza Unità d’Italia.

The initiative, stemming from a discussion between Councilor Dibenedetto, Councilor Carmelo Oddo, and Dr. Giuseppe Pluchinotta, is the result of an institutional collaboration that saw, on one side, the interest of Hon. Ignazio Abbate at the Sicilian Region and, on the other, the joint work of municipal offices and the Leontini Administration.

The final result is certainly excellent – they clarify from the Municipality – For this reason, we wish to give due praise to all the actors of this project, starting with Superintendent Antonio De Marco, for the valuable suggestions provided already in the design phase, Head of Department Dr. Lucia Roccuzzo, Project Manager Geom. Salvatore Nigito, Designer Geom. Giuseppe Caschetto, assisted by Energy Manager Eng. Alfredo Genovese and his valuable collaborator Luca Adamo, and the Company Massimo Spatola, from Ispica, which carried out the work with great professionalism and passion.

This further piece adds to the work already done by our Administration, with other extra-municipal funds, to illuminate the facade of the Mother Church, Piazza Stornello, the Brancati equipped area, Piazza San Giuseppe, and the Municipal Headquarters of Palazzo Bruno di Belmonte. We all remember these places in the dark and often as places of gathering. We continue to work to have a more beautiful City and safer gathering places.”
