Arrested at the Central Station a drug rider: in the car with marijuana and cocaine

He was stopped by agents of the State Police near the Central Station, before he could deliver the packages of drugs hidden in the backpack.

The man, a 28-year-old from Catania, was identified in his car by investigators from the IV Investigative Section "Contrast to Widespread Crime" of the Mobile Squad, engaged in targeted prevention and counteraction of drug dealing in the city.

The swift intervention of the "hawks" allowed for the seizure of a significant quantity of substances, including cocaine and marijuana, depriving crime of easy and illicit profits.

The so-called "drug rider" was subjected to a check and, from the very first moments, showed evident nervousness when asked to present his documents.

This behavior raised the operators' suspicions, leading them to decide to proceed with the search of the vehicle.

In the cabin, between the seats, the Mobile Squad officers found a backpack containing 57 bags of marijuana, weighing a total of 420 grams, and 11 packages of cocaine, amounting to 19 grams.

In the young man's possession, a sum of 190 euros was also found, believed to be proceeds from drug dealing.

The 28-year-old was arrested for possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing, while maintaining the presumption of innocence of the accused, valid until a possible final conviction.

The on-duty public prosecutor at the Catania Court was informed, and the man was taken to the security rooms of the Police Headquarters, awaiting summary judgment.
