Today in Ourense, Spain, the Virtus Indoor Athletics World Championships conclude with Italy preparing to finish with an extraordinary medal haul.
Among the protagonists of the blue expedition of Virtus, the international sports federation for athletes with intellectual and relational disabilities, was Paralympic champion Salvo Bianca from Gela, who today won his third gold medal out of four events he participated in Galicia.
The formidable athlete from Gela, after winning gold in the 60 hurdles in 8.77 and in the high jump with 1.80, today also won the world title in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 2.70, and with gold in his pocket, he stopped to participate in the long jump where he finished brilliantly in fifth place.

A tremendous performance by Salvo Bianca, coached by his father Massimo, with the achievement of three indoor world titles in the 60 hurdles, high jump, and pole vault, and a highly rated performance in the long jump where he secured 5th place with a new personal best of 6.40, which represents the minimum in his category to participate in the 2028 Paralympic Games in Los Angeles.
In Spain, in the four events he participated in, Salvo Bianca improved the Italian records, confirming his extraordinary talent. These three world medals add to the 3 medals (1 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze) won at the Virtus Outdoor World Championships last October in Brisbane, Australia.
Salvo Bianca, who, in addition to his father Massimo, also benefits from the advice of the Enna coach Carmelo Giarrizzo for his long jump preparation, boasts 25 Italian titles, 10 Italian records, and one world record in his career.
