1,490 positions available to work in the EU with salaries up to 6,000 euros per month: what to do to participate
EPSO reopens the generalist AD5 competition after seven years: positions for graduates, record salaries, and competitive selections at the EU level
Here is a rewrite in a different way, faithfully maintaining the same length and original structure, with a fresh and dynamic tone but equally informative.
If you aspire to a high-level career with one of the highest salaries on the market, the opportunity you have been waiting for is here. Until March 10, the European Personnel Selection Office (Epso) has reopened applications for the AD5 generalist competition, the main pathway to a permanent position in the institutions of the European Union. A historic event: the announcement reappears after seven years of hiatus, offering 1,490 positions for European administrators.

The announcement is open to graduates from all fields of study with excellent skills. For the 2026 edition, between 50,000 and 60,000 participants are expected (a 150% increase from the 22,644 in 2019), a sign of unstoppable and growing appeal. Why is it so attractive? The job security and exceptional economic benefits: the starting salary is around 6,150 euros gross per month, plus a 16% travel allowance and comprehensive EU health insurance. As one advances, it is possible to earn as much as up to 21,000 euros monthly.
What does a EU administrator do? It is not an ordinary role, but crucial for all of Europe. With versatile tasks, they manage legal and policy analyses, drafting laws, coordination between institutions, projects, and external relations. In international teams, newcomers will help define key policies on environment, digital, market, and diplomacy, influencing the daily lives of millions of Europeans. The selected candidates will work in top entities such as the Parliament, Commission, Council, Court of Justice, or EU agencies. Being a generalist, the assignment will depend on the candidate's CV, training, and languages, not on the initial choice.
Italy is at the forefront: our citizens excel in Epso competitions (here is the link to participate). With 2,570 staff (10.2% of the personnel) just in the Commission, it is the second country after Germany for top roles. The salaries above the Italian average explain its magnetism.
The competition will be intense: you need to pass online logical tests (verbal, numerical, abstract), a quiz on EU institutions, a digital verification, and a written paper on European topics. A trump card? You can choose two languages from the 24 official EU languages for the tests.
