The initiatives promoted by the Casa delle Donne on the occasion of the International Women's Day concluded with great participation, featuring a calendar of events dedicated to health, awareness, and sharing among women.

Among the central moments were the two days dedicated to breast cancer prevention, organized by the Casa delle Donne together with Altea Salute Donna and the Lions Club of Scicli.

The initiative included an initial awareness meeting during which prevention and early diagnosis were discussed, featuring speeches by Melania Carrubba, president of the Casa delle Donne, Stefania Carpino, president of the Lions Club of Scicli, and Donatella Di Paolo, vice president of Altea Salute Donna.

Particularly moving was the testimony of the latter, who shared her journey through illness and the battle, fortunately won, against cancer, offering a message of hope and awareness.

The day of March 6 was instead dedicated to screenings: 20 breast examinations and specialist checks were carried out, providing the users followed by the Casa delle Donne and the members with an important opportunity for prevention.

Some situations emerged from the screenings that will require further diagnostic investigations through more specific tests, confirming the importance of prevention and periodic checks.

Thanks were extended to Altea Salute Donna and Dr. Patrizia Costanzo for their collaboration in the realization of the initiative, as well as to the Lions Club of Scicli for contributing by sponsoring some of the visits.

The initiatives dedicated to March 8 concluded with the first “Sisterhood Walk” organized by the Casa delle Donne, a moment of meeting and sharing that saw many women walking together to affirm the values of solidarity, awareness, and participation.

Not just a walk, but an opportunity to come together, listen to one another, and reaffirm the importance of sisterhood in a time when too many women are still forced to fight for rights that should be fully guaranteed. Walking side by side represented a symbolic yet powerful gesture: a way to remind us that change also comes from the ability to network, support each other, and not remain silent.

The House of Women wanted to thank all the participants who, with enthusiasm and energy, helped make this first edition of the Sisterhood Walk a significant and participatory moment.

A journey that starts from health and prevention but also looks towards building a more aware and supportive community: because when women come together, change becomes possible.
