It concluded with an extremely positive outcome “The Gaze of Women”, which took place on Saturday evening in the evocative setting of the Società Operaia di Modica.

More than just a conference, it was a true mosaic of experiences capable of providing a clear and incisive snapshot of women's active participation in contemporary society.

Promoted by the association Ipso Facto and the anti-violence center “Out of the Shadow”, the event recorded a packed audience and constant attention towards the speakers, who naturally intertwined institutional roles and personal experiences.

Moderated with sensitivity by Teresa Floridia, president of Ipso Facto, the evening highlighted how the “female perspective” represents not just a viewpoint, but a working method based on listening and concreteness.

During the speeches, the mayor of Modica Maria Monisteri emphasized the significance of the political role of women as a driving force for change in the community.

From the expertise of Daniela Mercante (Territorial Area of Ragusa) and Claudia Scollo (Maggiore Hospital), the complexity, along with the human dimension, of school management and healthcare emerged.

The aspect of business and credit was entrusted to Maria Lorefice (Credem), while the expressive power of artistic language was narrated by Annamaria Cerruto.

Particularly impactful was the testimony of Enrichetta Guerrieri, who brought attention to the essential daily work carried out by the anti-violence center.

What distinguished the initiative was also the dense network of solidarity that supports it.

The presence of numerous service clubs and associations — including Avis, Lions, Kiwanis, Club Monti Iblei and others — confirms that the issue of equality and female narrative is not an isolated matter, but a shared commitment of the entire city of Modica.

The meeting concluded with the hope that this “gaze” does not remain confined to an episodic celebration, but becomes the daily lens through which to read and improve the social fabric of the territory.
