Comiso, the proposal: "Naming the new sports hall after Vincenzo Scamporrino"
It was Toti Costanzo who launched the idea asking to bend the regulations: here's why

A simple, direct, and deeply felt appeal. In a post published on social media, Toti Costanzo has asked the Comiso City Council to name the new sports hall in memory of Vincenzo Scamporrino, a beloved figure in the city remembered by all for his ability to convey affection, energy, and humanity. He passed away in recent days.
Costanzo describes him as “the warrior of love”, a man who – he writes – “had the great merit of distributing love to everyone and receiving just as much in return”. Anyone who met him, he adds, “came away enriched: it was his undeniable gift”. Words that restore the image of a person capable of leaving a deep mark, not only in sports but in the daily lives of those who knew him.
In his message, Costanzo officially requests that the City Council override the regulations, which stipulate a waiting period of ten years after death before proceeding with a public naming. “I think it is the least we can do in memory of Vincenzo Scamporrino”, he writes, inviting citizens to support the proposal with a like and maximum sharing.
The request has already begun to circulate rapidly on social media, gathering comments, memories, and testimonies from those who knew Scamporrino and still cherish his human and sporting example. His figure, linked to an idea of sport as community, respect, and passion, continues to represent a reference for many.
Now the ball is in the court of local politics, called to evaluate a proposal that concerns not just a name on a plaque, but the public recognition of an emotional legacy that, judging by the reactions, is still alive and shared.
